Our current projects that are running to reduce our impact on the world:
Waste material re-use
We have been researching a way that we can reuse waste from the business. In terms of production material wastage MJF is a really efficient production technology but it does yield some waste. This is in two primary forms:
Pure over run Nylon Pa12: we are now reusing this material in house with virtually zero added carbon. The powder goes through a light, in-house re-processing and is then ready to go.
Nylon Pa12 mixed with broken down glass beads: We are still working on this one but it is a focus to see if we can make a feedstock of Pa12 with glass composite.
Heat production / elimination
MJF and other ancillary system like air compressors do make a lot of waste heat which is ultimately used energy.
This heat then needs to be removed from the building (it does get quite warm). While we have converted to the most efficient air compressors we are now looking at ways of removing the heat they make from the building more efficiently and recovering the heat to offer to our neighbours who pay to heat their buildings.
